"Lying", "Amelia" & "Daybreakers" Trailer

The trailer for three upcoming films have been released within the past few days. The first is a trailer for the biopic "Amelia" starring Hilary Swank as Amelia Earhart. The film looks like it is trying too hard to win an Academy Award. The film opens this October and also stars Richard Gere. Next comes the trailer for the "Daybreakers", ANOTHER vampire flick. This one, however, has a pretty cool take on the modern vampire. Imagine a world where everyone was a vampire and they feed on the few remaining humans. The only problem is, what happens when the blood runs out? Looks cool overall. Opens January 8, 2010. Finally comes the funny trailer for the film "The Invention of Lying" starring Ricky Gervais (who was also funny in last years "Ghost Town"), Jennifer Garner and even features Jonah Hill and Tina Fey. The title pretty much explains it all. As for the actual film, might be worth a look when it comes out September 25, 2009!

"From Paris With Love" Poster

An awesome poster for the upcoming action flick "From Paris With Love" starring John Travolta has been released. The poster is very cool, although I bet it's been done before.

"The Box" New Trailer

Today, the trailer for the upcoming horror/thriller film "The Box" was released. The film stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a couple who receive a strange box with a button, that when pushed will kill someone somewhere and give them a million dollars. The film looks strange. I don't really know what the hell is happening in this trailer. It's obviously a supernatural film. Will there even be blood? Because I saw none in this trailer. All I saw (or heard) was Cameron Diaz with a horrible Southern accent. Hopefully the story comes full circle when the film is released October 30, 2009.

A Week In Posters

So not many good posters came out this week. Actually, not many came out at all. For some reason I love posters. I think it's a very important part of marketing a movie. First we have the first poster for the horror vampire film "Daybreakers". Is it just me, or does this poster look very similar to the vampire flick "30 Days of Night"? Not very original. Next comes the poster for the teen comedy "Youth in Revolt". Michael Cera looks like he was airbrushed to the point of no return and they added some wrinkles. We also have a poster for the film "Sherlock Holmes" starring Robert Downey Jr.. This poster is much better than the first poster (although I don't think that was even a real poster). Next we have the new poster for the sci-fi horror film "Pandorum", which at first glance, the poster looks nice but now I'm not feeling it as much. We also have an okay looking international poster for the thriller "The Perfect Getaway" which comes out later this summer. I bet the US poster will be the same thing. The poster for "Cold Souls" has been released, and I really like the Russian dolls thing it has going. And just like the trailer, it's very interesting. Next comes the poster for the Ashton Kutcher comedy "Spread", which I have a funny feeling will go straight-to-dvd judging by this poster. The drama film, "Trucker", starring Michelle Monaghan ("Eagle Eye") has a new poster out, and it's a little bland. Finally comes the poster for "The Time Traveler's Wife". The font is too boring, although I do like the background effect (and Rachel McAdams looking lovely as well). And that wraps up a week in posters!

A Week In Trailers

So another week has come and gone in the world of movies. Like every other week, many trailers for upcoming films were released. This week, the trailers are all mostly thriller or horror films. Most of which come out during September and October (just in time for Halloween of course). There's a romance and comedy thrown in there as well. We first have a trailer for the adaptation of "The Time Traveler's Wife" (which has been sitting on the shelf for a while). The film looks okay thanks to Rachel McAdams who keeps you somewhat interested in the ongoing story of a man who can time travel spontaneously. The film opens August 14, 2009. Next we have the trailer for the upcoming thriller "Whiteout" starring Kate Beckinsale. I don't know wether I like the trailer or not. The trailer seems a little cheesy, especially with the voice-over, but I somehow get the feeling that it may actually be good when it comes out September 11, 2009. From one thriller to another, we have the trailer for the remake of "The Stepfather" and it's rated PG-13. So expect it to be like the the remake of "Prom Night". However, this does look a little better, especially the last scene (plus, it has the very good looking actress, Amber Heard). The film opens October 16, 2009. Now comes a romantic comedy; "Love Happens" (which was formerly titled "Brand New Day"). The film stars Jennifer Aniston and the premise is the typical boy-meets-girl (vice-verse) and they fall in love. Maybe not a must see in theaters, but renting it should satisfy your need for a little romantic comedy. The film opens September 18, 2009. Next comes a film I am very excited to see, "2012"! Disaster movies are my weakness, but you have to admit, this one looks pretty cool. The film opens November 13, 2009. Now for a little indie film (somewhat). The film stars Paul Giamatti playing a character named Paul Giamatti. Um, okay? The film, "Cold Souls", seems interesting enough and opens in limited release August 7, 2009. Here's another random indie film, this time a horror film about vampires, which is the latest Hollywood obsession thanks to "Twilight". The film is titled "Thirst" (clever) and looks decent, but I've read it's suppose to be very bloody (+1. Some blood is even shown in the trailer). The film opens in limited release July 31, 2009. Finally for some horror and comedy mixed together. "Zombieland" is nothing more than the obvious: Zombies! The film stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenburg and Abigail Breslin and looks like every other funny zombie film, but with a better cast. The films opens October 9, 2009. And that wraps up this weeks trailers!

Opening This Week

This upcoming week, the movie of the summer is coming out: "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". The film will, without a doubt, be the #1 of the weekend. It will also likely pass the $100 million mark right out of the gate, especially since it is being released on Wednesday instead of Friday, therefore giving it an extra boost. But what else comes out this weekend (for those few who do not want to see "Transformers")? Well, the only other "big" release of the weekend is the drama "My Sister's Keeper" starring Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin. The film is an adaption of the bestselling novel of the same name and from the director of "The Notebook". The film may not make such a huge impact on the weekend, but still may manage to surpass a $10 million opening due to star power. In limited release, two notable films are being released: "Cheri" and "The Hurt Locker". "Cheri" is a romantic drama set in Paris during the 1920's (starring Michelle Pfeiffer), while "The Hurt Locker" is war picture taking place in modern day Iran. Recently, modern war films have not faired well at the box office. Ex: "Rendition" (2007), "Lion For Lambs" (2007) and "Stop-Loss" (2008), all of which include aspects of the war.  So which limited film will fair better?

Funny "World's Greatest Dad" Trailer

Robin Williams is finally back with a brand new comedy. He last starred in the film "August Rush" and recently in the film "Night at the Museum II". But now, he returns to his comedy roots in this hilarious looking film "World's Greatest Dad". At first, without knowing much about the film, I thought it would be a family comedy, but now after seeing this trailer, that is not the case. This pure comedy and I can't wait to see it! The film comes out in August in limited release (which, hopefully, will expand to a wide release).

A Not-So Scary "Halloween"

The sequel to the Rob Zombie directed horror remake of the film "Halloween" comes out this August, and now we finally have the final poster. Well, looking at all three posters, they all look horrible. It goes from "OK", to "Horrible", back to "OK" again. The film is up against the fourth installment in the "Final Destination" films, and after viewing the trailers and posters for both films, lets just say "Halloween II" won't be getting many scares...

Back a Second Time

So I made this blog literally a year, and well, I never went through with it. But maybe now I will? I want to post the latest posters and trailers and give my opinion on them. Sounds simple enough.
